Faculty Member Louise Glück

The Goddard College community mourns the loss of beloved poet Louise Glück, who passed away on October 13th, 2023 at the age of 80. Glück, winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature, taught at Goddard College as a faculty member in the 1970s.

Her prolific career spanned over 50 years, producing twelve celebrated collections of poetry known for their raw emotional intensity. As faculty at Goddard, Glück brought passion and artistry to her teaching and wrote poems that would be collected in “The House on the Marshland”.

Goddard remembers Louise Glück for her brilliant mind, singular voice, and the profound impact she had as an educator who encouraged her students to find their own unique poetic expressions. Though she is gone, her words and wisdom will continue inspiring generations to come.

The Board of Directors for Goddard College have made the difficult decision to close the college at the end of the 2024 Spring term.  

 

Current Goddard students will have the opportunity to complete their degrees at the same tuition rate through a teach-out with like-minded institution, Prescott College. Updates and scholarship funds will be available in the coming weeks and months. Information will be posted to www.goddard.edu
