Goddard MFA Faculty Deborah Brevoort’s Plays Published

Goddard MFA faculty member Deborah Brevoorts  two comedies, The Poetry of Pizza and The Velvet Weaponhave been published by No Passport Press.
In both plays, Deborah Brevoort shows her keen eye for comedy.  The Poetry of Pizza is a trans-cultural romantic comedy portraying the affectionate relationship that arise among Middle Eastern pizza chefs, Danish agoraphobics and Anglo-Americans looking for love.  The Velvet Weapon is a rollicking farce that challenges censorship and celebrates inclusivity.


 
 
 
 
 
 
Deborah Brevoort is a playwright and librettist from Alaska who now lives in the New York City area.  She is an alumna of New Dramatists, one of the original company members of Perseverance Theatre in Juneau, Alaska and a co-founder of Theatre Without Borders, a group of individual artists dedicated to international theatre exchange.

She is best known for her play TheWomen of Lockerbie, which won the Kennedy Center’s Fund for New American Plays Award and the silver medal in the Onassis International Playwriting Competition.  It was produced in London at the Orange Tree, off-Broadway at the New Group and Women’s Project, and in Los Angeles at the Actors Gang. It is produced all over the US and internationally.  Published by DPS and No Passport Press, the play has had over 400 productions to date and is translated into 10 languages.  Tickets are now on sale for the world premiere of Steal a Pencil for Me, an opera for which she wrote the libretto, at Opera Colorado, January 25 – 30, 2018.

The Board of Directors for Goddard College have made the difficult decision to close the college at the end of the 2024 Spring term.  

 

Current Goddard students will have the opportunity to complete their degrees at the same tuition rate through a teach-out with like-minded institution, Prescott College. Updates and scholarship funds will be available in the coming weeks and months. Information will be posted to www.goddard.edu
