Ryan Boudinot‘s story “Readers and Writers,” originally published in Post Road and nominated for a Pushcart Prize, is a story of the month on the Committee Room. An interview with Ryan appears in the inaugural issue of online magazine Moss.
Deborah Brevoort’s backstage farce The Velvet Weapon was produced at the Trustus Theatre in Columbia SC on August 8-16th. Also, her Noh drama about Elvis Presley was produced by Theatre Nohgaku for one performance only on Saturday August 9th at the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble in PA.
Kenny Fries read and discussed his work with German scholar Ute Kalender at Salon 4 in Berlin. Also, “Politisches Statement auf zwei Beinen (Poltiical Statement on Two Legs)” an interview with Kenny Fries by Rebecca Maskos is in the new issue of Mondkalb.
Beatrix Gates’ poems “Blueprint, for Jane Cooper” and “The Verge” have been accepted by The Beloit Poetry Journal.
Michael Klein had a poem, “It’s Derby Day” accepted for publication by Oxford American and an essay, “Halfway Open,” accepted by Slice. Both will appear in the spring. He is also giving readings in Newtown, Connecticut, in October, and at Housing Works and Cornelia Street Café in New York City in November and December.
Douglas A. Martin will be teaching a six week class at Poets House in October, working with cross-genre concerns.

Ron Heacock’s (MFAW ’13) story, “A Day in the Life”, was published in The Rejected Writer.
Cara Hoffman (MFAW ’11) was interviewed by George Stephanopoulos on ABC news.
Peggy Medina’s graduate thesis play A Force To Be Reckoned With will go up at Casa0101 in Los Angeles on Aug 22-Sept 28th.
Tony Mena had an essay published by The New York Times in their At War section. And his book of poetry was just published by Southeast Missouri State University Press. He has also been invited by the Headstrong Project to read his poetry in New York City on October 1st with with Jake Gyllenhaal, Lily Taylor, and Anthony Edwards for a fundraiser to treat PTSD in veterans.
Kita Mehaffy had two poems accepted for publication by Hummingbird: Magazine of the Short Poem.
Lisa E. Melilli (MFAW ‘13) was named a finalist for the New Letters Alexander Patterson Cappon Prize for Fiction for her story, “The Offering.”
Nancy Clarke Otter (MFAW ’14) won the Connecticut Poetry Society award with her poem “Fortune’s Rest.”
Jan Smith (MFAW ’14) was accepted for a Vermont Studio Center Writing Residency for this coming Spring ’15 and her memoir, Blink Like Crazy, won the SouthWest Writers contest.
Lucy Snyder’s story “Santa Muerte” will be in the forthcoming anthology Streets of Shadows. And, Raw Dog Screaming Press released her short fiction collection Soft Apocalypses. Finally, her essay “The H Word: The Intersection of Science Fiction and Horror” is in the new issue of Nightmare Magazine.
Jon Neal Wallace’s (MFAW) novel Ragman’s Roll, was published by Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency.
