After Chris Lovell graduated from Goddard in the early seventies, he stayed on to direct the college’s admissions office until 1981. When several of the adult degree programs moved to Norwich University, he joined the admissions and recruitment office on NU’s Montpelier campus, specializing in ways to reach adult learners. Moving to American University in Washington, DC, he completed a doctorate in Counseling and Adult Development. Then, his teaching and research career took him to Old Dominion University where he received tenure and taught courses in counseling and human development.
He is married to Ellen McCulloch Lovell, former Chief of Staff for Patrick Leahy, and recent President of Marlboro College. He spends almost every weekend cheering on his three granddaughters who race for the Mount Mount Mansfield Ski Club.
