A faculty member at Goddard since 1997, Catherine Lowther works with students in the Sustainability, Health Arts & Sciences, Individualized Studies, and Education Programs. She started the BA in Sustainability Program and created and leads the Climate Literacy Group Study and the Climate Change Education Course. She has chaired the Goddard Sustainability Committee since its formation in 2007, did the carbon inventory and climate action plan for the College, and worked to bring the college to carbon neutrality in 2018. She also manages the Goddard Sustainability and Climate Change Listserv. She is a member of former Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Reality Leadership Corps, a global network of activists working to raise awareness about climate change, build resilience, and implement solutions. Before and during her years at Goddard, Catherine was in private practice as a therapist focusing in holistic health counseling, psychotherapy, dream analysis, conflict resolution, and meditation. Her work at Goddard has taught her about the power we have to overcome daunting challenges, change our ways of thinking and living, and take our lives in a new direction.
