Debut Memoirist Sarah Cannon to Speak at Goddard College

Debut memoirist and Goddard MFA alumna Sarah Cannon will be speaking at Goddard College’s MFA in Creative Writing Program on Sunday, February 17. She will read from her memoir The Shame of Losing, and answer questions. This public event will take place at 7pm in the Reading Room on the second floor of Building 204, 200 Battery Way, in Fort Worden State Park, Port Townsend, WA 98368. A reception and book signing will immediately follow the reading.

About Sarah

Sarah Cannon’s debut memoir The Shame of Losing was published this fall by Red Hen Press. Her writing also appears in The New York Times, Salon.com, and other publications. She received her MFA in creative writing from Goddard College in Port Townsend in 2014.

Earlier in her career, Cannon produced educational material — videos and print collateral — for PBS in Seattle, working on projects like the Reading Rainbow Young Authors and Illustrators Contest, Washington State Exceptional Caregivers Award, and more. She has been active as a community education writing instructor in the Seattle area, and she helped launch Goddard’s Lighthouse Writers’ Conference and Retreat in Port Townsend.

Important Announcement

The Board of Directors for Goddard College have made the difficult decision to close the college at the end of the 2024 Spring term.

Current Goddard students will have the opportunity to complete their degrees at the same tuition rate through a teach-out with like-minded institution, Prescott College. Updates and scholarship funds will be available in the coming weeks and months. Information will be posted to www.goddard.edu
