Director of Human Resources

Goddard College seeks an experienced Human Resources professional to direct Goddard’s Human Resources functions in support of the College and its employees.  The College is firmly aligned with a deep collective desire for and an insistence on social and environmental justice.  Our educational practices are non-traditional and experimental, so our employment structures are complex.  The ideal candidate will have the capacity to bring effective Human Resources leadership to the organization in that context, bringing creativity, flexibility, curiosity, and an open mind along with enthusiasm and facility for working in a dynamic organization. Crucially, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of and a capacity to address issues of social justice and inclusion at an organizational level, and an open and even approach to labor relations.

Responsibilities include:  manage personnel systems and employee relations in compliance with College policies and goals; ensure compliance with regulatory agencies; oversee the College’s recruitment, hiring, and compensation and classification systems; administer the employee benefits package; work with legal counsel and other key College administrators in collective bargaining and personnel matters; develop and manage the Human Resources budget and provide key information in the College budget development process; foster employee development and well-being.  Additionally, the HR Director role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs that promote diversity and foster an open and inclusive environment.

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelors degree in Administration or Human Resources or a related field with a Masters degree desirable, plus five to seven years’ experience in administration or personnel, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of employee benefits and compensation administration; employment laws, HR practices and systems, performance management and employee relations. Collective bargaining experience preferred.

SALARY RANGE:  $65,000 – $75,000
