Internationally Acclaimed Piano Virtuoso Ang Li to Play at Goddard College

Plainfield, Vt. — International award-winning pianist Ang Li is appearing live in concert on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the historic Haybarn Theatre at Goddard College, presented by WGDR/WGDH Goddard College Community Radio.

Li is among the top 30 pianists in the world as ranked by the Van Cliburn Foundation in 2009. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York; The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.; the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada; Ruïnekerk in Bergen of the Netherlands; and the National Center for the Performing Arts in China, among others.

Her awards include first prize at the 64th Montréal Symphony Orchestra (OSM) Competition; first place in the American Academy of Conducting Piano Competition at the Aspen Music Festival; first place in the Chiang Wen Yeh International Young Artist Piano Competition; and first prize in the Manhattan School of Music Concerto Competition, among others.

Li was born in Beijing and moved to Canada at age twelve. She holds a bachelor’s degree from The Curtis Institute of Music and a Master of Music from Juilliard.

Music critic Jing Zuoren hails her as “a stellar young pianist whose talent equals that of the world’s finest.”

The doors will open at 3pm and the concert will start promptly at 3:30pm on June 3rd at the Haybarn Theatre at Goddard College. Tickets are available in advance for $20 at www.wgdr.org and at Buch Spieler Music in downtown Montpelier. They will be $25 at the door the day of the show.
