SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Thursday night at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Phish drummer Jon Fishman headlined an evening of Central New York’s biggest names in music when he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame.
The crowd, stuffed with Phish fans, whooped and hollered throughout Fishman’s speech. Some people drove from as far as New Jersey or Vermont to watch him accept the award.
“This is by far the most nervous I’ve ever been onstage,” Fishman said as he took to the podium.
In a 10-minute speech, Fishman touched on his time at University of Vermont and Goddard College and shared memories from growing up in Syracuse.
