Since Goddard’s early days in the 1940s, the community has upheld a work program where members of the community – students, faculty, staff and administration – share operational duties and pitch in on maintenance projects around campus.
For Goddard’s annual spring community work day this year, Plainfield staff and administrators were joined by students from the Central Vermont High School Initiative, a Waldorf style high school taking up residence in the Stokes Dorm. Many campus updates were made, including restoring the stone path from the back door of the Manor to the maze. Below are two photos depicting the original laying of the stone path in 1940, on the left, and the 2016 crew laying the same stones dug up from the same location:
