The MFAW Post-Graduate Semester

Deadline to apply for both campuses is December 1st

Yes, you can come back! We have a new Post Graduate Semester (PGS) option for MFAW alums who want professional feedback in a community atmosphere as they revise, complete, and polish a writing project. Or begin a new project. After years of percolating the idea in response to interest from alums, we can now offer you: sustained dialogue, focused critique, and an intensive exchange with an advisor, but this time around, you won’t have to reckon with all those pesky degree requirements! The option is available at both our VT and WA sites.

An offering of the Creative Writing MFA faculty, the Postgraduate Semester is a continuing education option for writers with an MA, MFA or PhD in creative writing from a regionally accredited college or university. Graduates of other programs in the US and international programs are also welcome. To apply, you must have completed a graduate degree at least six months prior to applying. What to Expect

  • You will participate fully in a five-day residency on Goddard’s campus in Plainfield, Vermont, or Port Townsend, Washington.
  • You will develop a project plan in collaboration with your advisor.
  • You will meet one-on-one with your advisor two or three times during the 15 week semester. One of these meetings will be mid-way through the semester.
  • During the semester, you will submit three packets of creative work and receive extensive feedback and notes on your project as it progresses.

Important Announcement

The Board of Directors for Goddard College have made the difficult decision to close the college at the end of the 2024 Spring term.

Current Goddard students will have the opportunity to complete their degrees at the same tuition rate through a teach-out with like-minded institution, Prescott College. Updates and scholarship funds will be available in the coming weeks and months. Information will be posted to www.goddard.edu
