This Monday, October 9th, marks Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Also known as Native American Day, this holiday celebrates and honors the history, culture, and contributions of Native Americans and Indigenous peoples. It coincides with the federal holiday of Columbus Day, as many have chosen to replace the celebration of Christopher Columbus with one that recognizes the Indigenous populations that suffered after European contact and colonization. Goddard College recognizes the significance of this day and the importance of learning about and celebrating the vibrant cultures, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous communities across North America. We hope you will join us in honoring and reflecting upon Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
