Mary Johnson

Mary Johnson is the author of An Unquenchable Thirst: Following Mother Teresa in Search of Love, Service, and an Authentic Life. This memoir tells the story of Johnson’s twenty years as a Missionaries of Charity, the group commonly known as the Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. After leaving the sisters in 1997, Johnson completed a BA in English at Lamar University and an MFA in creative writing at Goddard College. She also married. Johnson’s need for support while writing was the inspiration behind the A Room of Her Own Foundation, a group that champions women writers. Johnson serves as Creative Director of AROHO’s retreats and is a fellow of the MacDowell Colony.  Her work has been featured in O: the Oprah Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, The Toronto Post, The Denver Post, Fourth Genre, MORE Magazine, and others.

The Board of Directors for Goddard College have made the difficult decision to close the college at the end of the 2024 Spring term.
