MFAW-VT faculty member Deborah Brevoort has been named a finalist for the Pellicciotti Opera Composition Prize with composer Patrick Soluri for their opera of Albert Nobbs. The competition, which is held by the Crane Opera Ensemble and the Crane School of Music seeks to encourage the creation of new opera works that explore themes related to tolerance, inclusion or diversity.
Four finalists for the award were selected from 150 applicants. Each finalist must present selections from their opera in the final round of the competition which will take place in September. Attached is a press release with all the details.
