11 Days to Go: CLOCKHOUSE Submissions & CNF Past

Yes, really.  Clockhouse’s submission period ends at 11:59 p.m. on December 1, 2015, so this is close to the last call for submissions.
It’s easy to mired in the details of what hour, what day, what genres, who’s eligible to submit, but I hope those details never obscure Clockhouse’s mission:
Dare. Risk. Dream. Share. Ruminate.
How do we understand our place in the world, our responsibility to it, and our responsibility to each other? Clockhouse is an eclectic conversation about the work-in-progress of life—a soul arousal, a testing ground, a new community, a call for change. Join in.
But, of course, the details do matter.  Clockhouse publishes Creative Non-Fiction, Drama, Fiction, and Poetry; submissions guidelines can be found at Clockhouse’s’ website, as can excerpts from the first three volumes.
One of the writers you’ll find on that website is Elisabeth Frost.  You’ll find her creative non-fiction “The Truth of It,”  in Clockhouse Volume Two, which is available for purchase, along with Volumes One and Three, at the same website.

from Elisabeth Frost’s Proxy:
The Truth of It
Today she would have turned eighty-nine.
That’s how we say it. Turned. Like a vehicle carrying itself into a new direction.
But that doesn’t feel right. Too active, like a choice determined by oneself, when the truth is that the year transpires and we mark it for reasons of our own, and the whole thing is arbitrary, like the lapse of one tree branch into the next, which carries its new weight in whatever direction the sun decides. Where’s the choice in that?
She’s done now with becoming. Is that why would have is wrong as well?
The truth is different. Today she is 89.
She. Is.

Important Announcement

The Board of Directors for Goddard College have made the difficult decision to close the college at the end of the 2024 Spring term.

Current Goddard students will have the opportunity to complete their degrees at the same tuition rate through a teach-out with like-minded institution, Prescott College. Updates and scholarship funds will be available in the coming weeks and months. Information will be posted to www.goddard.edu
