Recap from Lighthouse Writers’ Conference & Retreat!

Couldn’t join us this year? You were missed! The third annual Lighthouse Writers’ Conference & Retreat took place February 16th-19th, 2018 in Port Townsend, Washington. In lively and inspired workshop sessions, we studied puzzle logic and storytelling with Gestalt and fragmentary writing; sculpted with clay while exploring the poetry and inspiration of Rainer Maria Rilke; practiced lessons from the craft of acting to bring more power to our writing. We studied allegory to address social injustices, language as sound, use of objects to spool out historical eras. We wrote and read, laughed and mused, made new friends and reconnected with old writing buddies as well as our beloved faculty.

We are proud to report that the third installment of our west coast alumni program welcomed the highest number of participants yet. An enormous ‘thank you’ is in order for everyone who attended or made this conference possible. This conference exists because of ongoing interest and support from the greater Goddard community. Meanwhile, don’t forget the Clockhouse Writers’ Conference & Retreat coming up this June at the Plainfield campus in Vermont. Twice a year Goddard MFAW alums have the opportunity to extend their Goddard-level learning through these two alumni conferences. This is a rare and valuable way to make your work even more powerful as you progress through your post-Goddard writing career, so take advantage! We are already looking forward to next February. Hope to see you there!
