Goddard College is proud to present David and Tracy Grisman at Goddard College’s historic Haybarn Theatre on Friday, October 5, for a fundraiser to support Goddard College. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The show starts at 8:00 p.m.

David Grisman is a brilliant mandolinist who is known far and wide for his unique sound, which combines elements of bluegrass, folk, jazz, Latin, gypsy, and swing into a genre he calls “Dawg music.” A prolific musician, Grisman has recorded more than forty albums (five of which won Grammy nominations) with notables such as Jerry Garcia, the Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Earl Scruggs, James Taylor, and Doc Watson.

Tracy Grisman, a student in Goddard’s Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts (MFA-IA) program in Port Townsend, Washington, is a musician and painter whose work is suffused with environmental and social-justice themes. She is an active musician who has played with the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience and has been featured as a guest singer on several albums. Tracy also coproduced and played rhythm guitar on an album titled Early Swing Now with Pete Toyne.
Tracy, who first found heard about Goddard at a college fair in 1977, is set to graduate on September 23, 2018. “David and I want to support Goddard College because it is a unique and innovative program that offers a pedagogical platform of the perfect balance of freedom, structure, and challenge,” Tracy explained. “From my own experience, I can’t imagine a more creative, personal, inclusive, and relevant program.”

All funds raised at the concert will be directed to the Goddard College Annual Fund and used to strengthen and support Goddard College’s mission to “advance cultures of rigorous inquiry, collaboration, and lifelong learning, where individuals take imaginative and responsible action in the world.”

“Goddard College is excited to welcome David and Tracy Grisman to the Haybarn Theatre,” said Goddard staff member and event producer, Meg Hammond. “We are extraordinarily grateful to the Grismans for offering this concert as a fundraiser in support of the College and are eager to celebrate Tracy’s upcoming graduation.”
