Residency Post from Student Cherie Crowningshield

I was so thrilled to attend the Student Gallery opening at the Haybarn Theatre on September 15, 2012 as part of the MA in Psychology & Counseling program residency.

Having an expressive arts background, I have an extreme interest in the concept of reflective work and how it can be translated with art materials. The artwork was very personal, and I enjoyed the individuality of each piece. In all, I really have to say I resonated most with student Marcella Harding’s work and her interpretation of the nervous system. I thoroughly enjoyed and felt the emotions that she was expressively portraying, and I caught myself being drawn into the paint on the canvas. I also was extremely excited to see the outpouring of support for the artists by staff, peers, and the local community. Being a new graduate student, I was not sure what to expect. I am now very eager to incorporate this very personal artistic form of expression into my studies at Goddard College.
