Reimagining Safety Screening and Panel

Join award-winning filmmaker and public policy expert Matthew Solomon for a special screening of his timely documentary Reimagining Safety, followed by a panel discussion about police reform and prison abolition here in Vermont. Shot entirely on iPhone, the acclaimed film reveals how Solomon harnessed simple tools of the trade to craft a powerful documentary catalyzing social change around policing and incarceration. The screening will showcase experts discussing how public safety transformation requires looking beyond systems that perpetuate harm. Reimagining Safety has reached nearly 1000 viewers through grassroots events and took home Best Documentary awards at multiple festivals. In the panel discussion Matthew Solomon will be joined by James “Duff” Lyall of ACLU-VT, Jayna Ahsaf of FreeHer and the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, and Dr. Randall Harp of the University of Vermont for a conversation about police and prison reform in Vermont. This event promises to spark dialogue on driving change through courageous storytelling and filmmaking.

This important screening is open to the public and will take place in the Haybarn Theater at Goddard College on Tuesday September the 19th at 7:00 PM EST. This event is free for all.
