Alumni Weekend FAQ’s
Is there a registration deadline?
Yes, we ask that you register at least 20 business days prior to the event so the kitchen and housekeeping staff can plan accordingly. Please register by Sept 20, 2017.
Can my registration be reimbursed if I cancel?
Yes, if you cancel by Sept 20, 2018 you will receive a reimbursement minus a $25 processing fee. Cancelation must be made in writing to Meg.firstname.lastname@example.org by Sept 20, 2018.
Can I bring my spouse, partner, childcare provider, or friend?
Yes, please plan on coming for a productive yet relaxing fun weekend of engagement among Goddard’s alumni community. We would like to welcome those close to you to join in. If they are a part of your community, they are part of ours. Anyone attending does need to pay the registration fee and those planning to stay on campus will need to purchase their housing accordingly.
Can I bring my child(ren)?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your child(ren) but please keep in mind that there is no current programing or childcare provided by Goddard College. Housing options for families is limited and requires a conversation with the College. Registration for a children under twelve is $35/child and will cover all of their meals for the weekend. Housing must be purchased separately after approval from the College. Contact Meg.email@example.com.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed on campus unless they are a service or emotional support animal. Alumni who have service or emotional support animals as an accommodation for documented disabilities should contact us prior to the Alumni Weekend Residency so that the accommodation can be processed.
Can alumni who attended a program in Port Townsend or Seattle attend this event?
Yes, please do! This Alumni Weekend Residency is intended for all alumni from all current and legacy programs and all Goddard campuses. (Believe it or not, Goddard College took place in many places throughout its history.) Goddard’s Plainfield, VT campus is the only campus owned by the College which is our least expensive way to host a large gathering at this time. While we recognize that it makes it more difficult for alumni to travel from the west coast we hope it gives you a reason to visit our beautiful New England campus during its peak foliage season.
Will there be an event on the west coast?
We are currently hosting Alumni Gatherings in major cities around the country in effort to start Regional Alumni Chapters that will collaboratively develop a Goddard College Alumni Association. Gatherings have taken place and will continue to pop up in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Brooklyn, Seattle, Port Townsend, and Tampa and Vermont. In 2018 & 2019 there are plans to visit Minneapolis, Chicago, Portland, OR and Portland, ME. Can I just show up on campus for the Alumni Weekend Residency?
Goddard’s Plainfield campus is not a fully operational venue when academic programs aren’t in session. The Alumni Weekend Residency registration fee is what is makes it possible to staff the campus for the weekend, prepare meals, chop the wood, provide security, assist registrants, and to provide the campus cleanup which is necessary when many people come together. We encourage you to help sustain Goddard and its efforts to provide alumni gatherings by helping us cover the costs by paying the registration fee for your campus visit. Your support is what will continue to sustain Goddard.
What’s the deal with meals?
Eating meals together fosters a sense of community and connection. Goddard College is committed to serving local and organic meals and will do its best to satisfy your dietary needs. The meals included in your registration fee are: Friday- lunch & dinner / Saturday- breakfast, lunch & dinner / Sunday- breakfast & lunch. The kitchen is thankful for your support and hopes to meet your dining needs.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
Goddard College aims to meet your dietary needs. When you fill out the registration form you will be presented with a question to that addresses dietary needs. Please be thorough in your response. When you arrive to campus, the kitchen staff will be happy to help answer questions or seek solutions. Please reach out as you need.
Do I have to have a roommate to choose a Shared Room?
Yes, This year we anticipate a very crowded campus and need to efficiently book rooms accordingly. To purchase one bed in a shared room you must indicate a roommate on your registration form. Your roommate must reciprocate that request in their registration. If there is no roommate listed Goddard will need to room you in a single room for an additional price.
Can I stay off campus?
Yes, you are more than welcome to seek alternative housing during this gathering but we encourage you to stay on campus for a more united community feel. If you are interested in finding alternative housing options click here to see some of your options or try Airbnb.com. Please keep in mind that this is peak foliage season for Vermont so you must plan ahead to book hotels, etc.
How do I possibly get to Plainfield, VT?
Yes, Plainfield is not the easiest place to get to and obviously not an easy place to leave based on the amount of Goddard alumni living in the hills of central Vermont. Please visit this following link for all of your transportation needs: Plainfield, VT Campus
Is there a carpooling system?
Yes, we have an online ride-share board! Click here to offer or request a ride.
Will there be a last minute option to present during the weekend?
Yes, if you know that you want to participate in a particular program such as the cabaret or the pecha kucha go ahead and sign up so we can get an estimated count for participants even if you are not quite sure what you will present. If you don’t want the pressure to decide now or the moment moves you and you are encouraged or decide last minute to present, we are here to remind you that Goddard College is good at making spontaneity prosper.
