The Goddard Graduate Institute offers a 36-credit, accelerated study option to students who are interested in deepening their expertise in a current practice and who have already conducted much of the exploratory research of a first semester student. The option is intended for professionals who have done significant work in their proposed areas of study and have a clear sense of how graduate studies will build upon current practice.

The 36-Credit Accelerated Graduate Study Option is for students who:

  • Have significant experience and time as a practitioner in their proposed areas of study.
  • Are already immersed in thinking about questions, and pursuing answers, related to their work in the world.
  • Have strong critical writing, thinking and time management skills.
  • Have participated in considerable self-directed study and/or pursued significant professional certifications, coursework and training in their field of interest.

All applicants to graduate degree programs must supply evidence of having earned an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Applicants seeking admission to the accelerated study option should demonstrate how their proposed studies in an area relate to their current practice or field, and they should have a developed idea of the final product they would like to complete.

Applicants demonstrate significant professional development in the degree or concentration in which they intend to apply in these ways:

What is the 36-Credit Option Application process?

The application process requires submitting materials as designated in the application instructions. Materials are reviewed by a Program Admissions Committee, comprised of the Program Director and Faculty.

What is the self-directed tutorial for applying?

The Accelerated Graduate Study Option Tutorial offers modules that provide:

  • an introduction to Goddard’s learning philosophy and practices

  • activities and tasks to support entry into an accelerated process of study
  • activities and tasks to support your completion of The Accelerated Graduate Study Option admissions application

If I meet the above criteria, am I automatically accepted into the three-semester option?

Acceptance is based on the review of your application materials by an Admissions Committee.

I have years of experience, recognized expertise in my field and many publications, is it possible to accelerate even more quickly through the graduate program?

You must complete a minimum of three full semesters to be eligible for an MA degree.

Is there a fee to apply for The Accelerated Graduate Study Option?

There is not an additional fee to apply for the accelerated study option, aside from the regular application deadline fee.

You may not switch into a four-semester program once you’ve been admitted into the accelerated study program.

Are there reasons not to do The Accelerated Graduate Study Option?
