Goddard College seeks a Registrar to direct and manage student records, registration, academic records systems, and assist with class scheduling.


This vital position manages the registrar office by planning, implementing, administering, monitoring, and evaluating all of the Registrar’s Office, including policies, procedures, processes, and systems.  The position develops and modifies policies and systems in accordance with college needs and objectives, as well as external regulations.  Duties include supervising Records Office staff members; planning and conducting training programs; holding staff meetings; and conferring regularly with college staff to plan and coordinate activities, assign and review work, and resolve problems.  This position plans, requests, and administers the Registrar’s office department operating budget.  The Registrar carries out a variety of key planning tasks, typically involving planning pre-registration and registration processes, creation of the master Records Office workflow schedule, computerizing student records systems, modifying/enhancing automated systems, preparing enrollment reports, and developing or modifying academic policies related to assigned areas of responsibility.

Work includes, developing, interpreting, and enforcing a wide range of academic policies and regulations related to student registration, enrollment, and academic records.  The position monitors all records collection, maintenance, and distribution systems on a continuing basis; it modifies systems to correct problems or improve system security and efficiency.  This role supervises and carries out transcript evaluations; it coordinates and directs the preparation and issuing of transcripts, evaluations, evaluation schedules, diplomas, and so forth.  Duties include compiling a variety of statistical data and preparing reports and projections for both internal and external organizations and government agencies; additionally, duties include preparing a wide variety of internal administrative/management reports on current student enrollment and profiles, retention/attrition, and historical trends.

With regard to working relationships with colleagues and committee work, this position confers regularly with Chief Academic Officer, the Director of Admissions, and other college personnel to plan, coordinate and evaluate policies/systems/activities, exchange information, interpret policies, and investigate and resolve problems; additionally this position chairs the Registrar’s Advisory Committee and Academic Standing Committee.  The position serves on the Academic Workgroup and various other college committees.   Additionally it confers with individual students to resolve special problems regarding academic credit, academic standing; and it serves as liaison with accrediting officials, professional organizations, and others outside the college on matters related to student records.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate degree plus four to six years of relevant technical and administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.  Additionally required is a sound understanding of organizational and governance structures, and general academic policies and regulations in higher education.  We seek candidates with a broad base of general technical knowledge and skills related to managing complex records systems, including computerized information systems.  Directly related experience in student records and registration is desirable.  Successful candidates will have demonstrated evidence of excellent planning, organizational, and administrative skills; along with good supervisory and budget-management skills.  Finally, candidates must possess an ability to communicate professionally and effectively with college faculty, students, administrators, and staff, as well as various outside organizations and agencies, in enforcing key college academic policies.

Salary Range:                        $50,000 to $60,000 annually
