Information Technology Support Specialist

Goddard College seeks an Information Technology Support Specialist to provide technical support to College IT infrastructure and its users (students, faculty, and staff).  This position will work with other members of the IT Department to troubleshoot and resolve problems with computers and networks, software, hardware, and other equipment.  This person will also support basic configuration changes to the College phone system (phone relocations, extension assignment, and general user database maintenance), instruct and support students, staff, and faculty in the use of various information technology resources, and perform various systems administration tasks, including software upgrades and back-ups.


The requirements for this position include:  Strong working knowledge of desktop applications and learning technologies and a strong working knowledge of computer systems, networking, and software.  The selected individual will be reliable, responsible, and dependable, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.  This person must also be able to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of College personnel, students, and/or outside individuals/organizations.  The position requires a demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, staff, and greater community, and an ability to exercise judgment and confidentiality in matters of the College.  This position is a swing shift position requiring the IT Support Specialist to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends during student residencies.
