Human Resources Administrator
Full Time, Benefit Eligible
Goddard College seeks a Human Resources Administrator to perform a variety of Human Resources functions, particularly as related to benefits, payroll, recruitment, and compliance administration, and to ensure that the general activities of the department function smoothly.
This important position manages benefits administration; it serves as primary contact with benefit providers; responds to staff and faculty benefits questions; updates the human resources information system (HRIS) software annually with new benefit rates; corresponds with benefit insurance representatives to ensure timely enrollments, terminations, and billing accuracy; prepares benefit-related reports; and administers benefits in HR software. Additionally, this position is responsible for staff payroll and all employee benefit deductions in HRIS software; the role works with supervisors and employees to ensure timely and accurate forms submission; manages payroll with HR and Business Office staff to support timely and accurate biweekly employee compensation; and resolves system errors by communicating directly with HRIS representatives.
The role also conducts new employee orientations & on boarding; it ensures that employees are welcomed in a friendly, and positive way; that employment paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner; it provides new employees with detailed benefits overviews; it is responsible for timely insurance benefits enrollments and employee insurance payroll deductions; and it coordinates on boarding activities with an emphasis on organizational culture, operations, Title IX, and FERPA. The Human Resources Administrator manages the annual benefits open enrollment; it and works with the CFAO and insurance brokers to determine new rates; it updates annual benefit summaries and HR payroll software with new rates, it drafts open enrollment communications to all employees, and it processes employee benefit forms. The role serves as college contact for state & federal agencies to ensure compliance with the following: Worker’s Compensation, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, MEDICARE, DOL, IRS, Unemployment, Wage Garnishments, and COBRA.
The position serves on the wellness committee / HR advisory committee / staff council, in collaboration with the CFAO or their designee; it participates in or chairs committees; and spearheads wellness-related Goddard initiatives. The role manages college recruitment, including writing ads., editing ads., placing ads. in both print and online locations, and setting up postings in the college’s online recruitment software. Additionally, the position works on the HR intranet site maintenance, office administration, and drafting job descriptions.
BA (MA/MS preferred) in human resources management, organizational management, education administration, or a closely related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of human resources experience, or a BA and 5 years of combined administrative experience in both human resources and higher education. Demonstrated professionalism and an ability to maintain confidentiality along with high professional and ethical standards. An ability to exercise judgment and capacity to professionally handle emotionally-charged employee situations. The possession of a strong ethical foundation, aligned with college’s mission. An ability to work well under pressure; excellent organization and prioritization skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities; an ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. Possession of excellent communication skills including: verbal, written, and presentation; specifically, facility with language and competency with grammatical structure leading to strong verbal and written skills. Demonstrated advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications; competence with HRIS data management, ADP WorkforceNow preferred; willingness and ability to learn additional applications and programs. Familiarity with general human resources laws and principles, an ability to research, interpret, and ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal employment laws; and familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreement compliance. An ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal and financial documents.
An ability to interface and interact with diverse individuals, to respond to and resolve common inquiries and complaints from personnel; an ability to communicate with vendors, providers, and regulatory agencies. Visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone.
A demonstrated ability to relate to others warmly and respectfully during first meetings and beyond; demonstrated evidence of and a sensitivity to an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, staff, and the greater community.
Salary Range: $38,000 to $43,000 annually
