Residencies

Students enrolled full-time at Goddard attend two eight-day low residencies a year, one at the start of each semester. Residencies take place on the historic Goddard College campus in Plainfield, Vermont. In addition, MFA students can choose to attend their residencies at the scenic Port Townsend, Washington residency site.  Each residency offers a wide range of hands-on workshops, presentations, mini-courses, and experiential activities led by faculty, returning students, and guest presenters.

During the residency, students participate in small group and one-on-one meetings with their faculty advisor to plan the work of the semester, identify learning resources, and strategize personal and professional goals for their studies in the program. Advising group meetings are small and supportive, allowing students to engage in meaningful discussions about their field of study, common interests, and individual experiences. This close community of faculty and co-learners sustains students throughout the semester as they learn in their home communities.
