Damien Echols Reading

Damien Echols will read from his bestselling memoir, Life After Death (Blue Rider Press, Sept. 2012), with a Q&A, reception and book signing to follow. Free and open to the public as part of Goddard's MFA in Creative Writing Program's Visiting Writers Series. RSVP here. Convicted of murder, Echols spent nearly 18 years on death row before his release in 2011. His story is featured in the documentary films Paradise Lost and West of Memphis.

Both current matriculated Goddard students and educators seeking professional development opportunities attend this Institute. A native born Vermonter, Bob Stannard has been playin' and singin' the Blues since 1969. He has performed with some of the world's best players at some of the finest venues in the world. He has played with BB King at BB's club in NYC, Foxwoods Casino and the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. For that show they were joined by legendary keyboardist, Joe Sample.

Cornelius Eady Poetry Reading & Goddard Mini LitFest

Cornelius Eady is author of many books of poetry, including Victims of the Latest Dance Craze, winner of the Lamont Prize of the Academy of American Poets, The Gathering of My Name, nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, and Brutal Imagination. He is co-founder of Cave Canem, a national organization for African American poetry and poets. This event is free and open to the public and is part of a mini literary festival at Goddard College to celebrate the College's 150th Anniversary!
