Communication Written: the ability to appropriately use the APA Style in their written work, clear and concise writing, graduate level use of grammar, spelling, and organization in written work. Oral Presentation: sensitivity to what is relevant, the ability to present in a concise and organized manner, and with sensitivity to a specific audience, the ability to appropriately receive and respond to feedback in productive ways.
Research Traditions of Inquiry: knowledge of basic research concepts, including the natures of and differences between quantitative and qualitative methods. Proposals and Reports: the ability to create research proposals and reports using current professional standards, including a literature review. Research and Social Justice: an understanding of the ways social science research relates to issues of social justice.
Personal Development Self Awareness: an awareness of the personal issues relevant to the student's strengths and weaknesses in their chosen field (counseling, organizational development, etc.) Self Growth: the ability to increase awareness of personal issues and to appropriately integrate personal strengths and weaknesses.
Professional Development Knowledge of the Profession: knowledge of the history of the profession, its ethical principles and relevant laws, and its traditions of inquiry. Ability to Stay Current in the Field: skills necessary to staying abreast of advances in the field. Professional Strengths: a self-awareness of professional strengths and weaknesses, and an improvement in that awareness over the course of the program. Psychology and Social Justice: an understanding of the history of social justice advocacy in psychology and the student's relation to it.
