Goddard College, including its Health Arts and Sciences and Sustainable Business and Communities programs, offers a special learning affiliation with the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, located in Rhinebeck, New York. As such, fully matriculated students in Goddard programs may choose to enhance their self-designed Goddard studies through enrollment in selected Omega learning activities. As such, they will incorporate Omega courses, conferences, or longer trainings in professional health, sustainable living, leadership, and community into part of their Goddard study plans and deepen their Omega experiential studies through continued theory building and reflection with their Goddard advisor.
Goddard students will be advised by their advisors in the Health Arts and Sciences or Sustainable Business and Communities programs how to best integrate Omega Institute learning events into their individualized study plans and subsequent studies. Participation in Omega learning activities provides students opportunities to enhance their Goddard independent studies relative to their study as a whole and build connections with other individuals who share similar interests.
Specific examples of available studies offered by the Omega Institute that Goddard students might include in their study plans include tai chi teacher training, interdisciplinary yoga teacher training, tai massage training, mindfulness meditation, nonviolent communication, women’s studies, creative writing, peace studies, travel-study programs, sustainable living, leadership and community study, and study in a range of diverse healing arts modalities.

Benefits of Omega Institute Affiliation for Fully Matriculated Goddard Students:
- When Goddard students anticipate building an Omega learning activity into their study plan as a resource, they may request additional financial aid to support funding the Omega activity from Goddard’s Financial Aid Office during the relevant semester.
- Omega will provide up to a 30-percent discount to fully enrolled Goddard students who choose to participate in Omega learning experiences as part of their studies, with some exceptions to discount availability. Benefits of the Omega Institute Affiliation for Goddard Students who are Part-Time Omega Seasonal Staff:
- After careful planning with Omega Institute’s People and Culture Department, part-time Omega seasonal staff workers who are or become Goddard students will be eligible to be released from their work schedule to attend the eight-day Goddard summer residency. As with any fully matriculated student at Goddard who integrates Omega’s learning activities into their semester study plans, studies are done in conjunction with Goddard faculty through an academic advising model.
- Through the Goddard process (working with a Goddard advisor, using a self-designed study plan and an individually chosen focus) part-time Omega seasonal staff members who are also enrolled in a Goddard program will deepen their experience and enlarge the learning they gain through their Omega staff experience.
- Part-time Omega seasonal staff members could integrate development of service learning or life skills into their Goddard study plan in areas such as peace studies, leadership and sustainable communities, yoga and movement arts, food systems and nutrition studies, sustainable living, diverse healing arts modalities, conscious living, life coaching, creative writing, and other emergent curriculum areas.
