MA in Education and LicensureCommunity EducationThe low residency Masters in Education Program offers a concentration in Community Education for students currently engaged in community education and related fields. The concentration aims to bring together early childhood educators, youth workers, after-school providers, continuing education leaders, and others, to combine theory with knowledge and skills acquired through working in the field. Community Education students utilize experiences in the workplace and the local community to produce a relevant and meaningful program of study rooted in theory, expanded through practice, and focused on personal and professional educational goals.
Students in the low residency Community Education Concentration build an understanding of learning theory and educational development. Students learn how to form relationships between institutions and community, and how to bring resources together for teachers, students, parents, and community members. Skills in program management, planning, implementation, and evaluation of community education services are acquired through an internship, an internship portfolio, and a thesis project.

The University of Wisconsin at River Falls and Goddard College are pleased to announce a new articulation agreement through which Goddard College agrees to accept 12 credits from UWRF’s Community Education Graduate certificate toward the 36 credits required for completion of a low residency MA degree in Education with a concentration in Community Education. Students completing UWRF’s CE Graduate certificate are now able to complete a low residency MA degree in Education with a concentration in Community Education in two semesters through Goddard College.
