Faculty

Deborah Brevoort was inducted into the National Theatre Conference, an organization of theatre educators and professional theatre practitioners from around the US.  The NTC is a think tank, dedicated to addressing issues facing the American theatre.  She will also be in residence at  CAP 21 in New York City in January 2014 to further develop Crossing Over, her Amish Hip Hop musical written with composer Stephanie Salzman. Also, her work in musical theatre and opera was recently awarded an ASCAP Plus grant.  And, finally, there will be a presentation of selections from Steal a Pencil for Me, the National Opera Center in New York City on Thursday January 16, 2014 at 7:30 pm.

Jan Clausen's long-poem-with-prose-elements "definitive mechanisms for monetizing forests" has been accepted for publication in Tupelo Quarterly.

Kenny Fries' essay "Stumbling Over History" was translated into German by Michael Zander and published in Junge Welt. 

Elena Georgiou gave a reading on December 11th at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum.

Susan Kim has a mass market paperback imprint of Brain Camp coming out from Square Fish, the paperback imprint for Macmillan Children's, in Spring 2015.

Rogelio Martinez has been hired to write a film about the life of Yoani Sanchez, a Cuban blogger. Academy Award-winner Bobby Moresco is a producer on the project. Also, several of his monologues are being published in Monologues for Latino Actors: A Resource Guide into Contemporary Latino/a Playwrights for Actors and Teachers. In addition, his documentary, “Icebound”, just premiered at the Alaskan Film Festival this past weekend.

Nicky Morris has a poem in the current issue of the Ithaca Times, and another poem of hers won a first place in a Central Vermont poetry competition.

Richard Panek's collaboration with Temple Granding, The Autistic Brain: Thinking Across the Spectrum, has won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Nonfiction Book of 2013. In addition, an essay about art and science appears in the catalogue for artist Pedro Barbeito's "The God Particle". 

Rachel Pollack has been invited to be a keynote speaker at a conference on "Writing Trans Genres: Emergent Literatures and Criticisms," in Winnipeg. Canada.  She is also returning to Beijing to teach in March, and going to a Tarot conference in Chengdu in October.   And, finally, she’s received an invitation to teach in Taiwan.

Reiko Rizzuto is featured in YES! Magazine's article about the Hedgebrook Cookbook.

Paul Selig’s new book, The Book of Knowing and Worth (Tarcher/Penguin) is now available in bookstores nationwide and is shipping from Amazon.com.

Darcey Steinke had a book review of The Kingdom of the Little Wounds in a December edition of the New York Times Book Review.
