FEATURED ALUMNUS: Dr. Ed Tick, (MA Psy `75)

Ed TickDr. Ed Tick began focusing on veteran's issues in 1979, and is the founder and director of Soldier's Heart in Troy, NY. His pioneering work with PTSD is the basis for his recent book "War and the Soul".

In a speech last week at the University of West Georgia, Tick said PTSD is becoming much more common in the wars being fought today. There's many reasons for this: "One is the multiple deployments," he said. "Another is that they have weapons which are so technologically advanced that they create destruction more than the human condition can endure." Read more: Times-Georgian

His most recent work has involved leading pilgrimages by Vietnam veterans back to the country where they fought, meeting the native veterans and sharing their stories.
