Richard Panek's Achievements

Richard Paneksecured a publisher (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) for his next book, Gravity: The Great Absurdity

His collaboration with Temple Grandin, The Autistic Brain: Thinking Across the Spectrum, won the Goodreads Choice Award for best nonfiction book of 2013.

He wrote the cover feature for the March/April issue of the Yale Alumni Magazine, a profile of astrophysicist Meg Urry.

Richard Panek spent a week in Chile in the summer of 2011, giving an invited series of lectures on his book The 4% Universe: Dark Matter, Dark Energy, and the Race to Discover the Rest of Reality.

He also recently gave talks on the same subject at venues including the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Microsoft Research, and Seattle Town Hall.

Two of his articles that originally appeared in Smithsonian, "The Year of Albert Einstein" and "Dark Energy: The Biggest Mystery of Them All," were republished in Mysteries of the Universe, a newsstand-only "Smithsonian Collector's Edition."
