Seattle, Washington: Creating teaching and learning communities for social change. Creando comunidades de enseñanza y aprendizaje para el cambio social. The Praxis Institute for Early Childhood Education is the meeting place, the hub around which teaching and learning for social change revolves. We form partnerships and engage in collaborative work with other, like-minded groups and organizations in our communities in order to achieve our goal of a more inclusive, culturally democratic society. Both the college and the preschool co-exist in a community where children are able to see adults engaged in the teaching, learning, and practicing of social change, leadership, and social justice. Adults are able to see what social change, leadership, and social justice look like developmentally as they observe and participate in the children’s learning process.
